Graduated from the University of the West Indies in 1976 with a B.S.c. Honors and has since worked in Trintoc, Trinmar and Petrotrin as a Senior Development/Operations and Exploration Geologist. He has also completed and read for his Masters of Philosophy degree at the University of the West Indies. His major experience is in the interpretation of the geology from well and seismic information to completion of the well. He has also done Well site and Operations Geologist functions for major Exploration and Development wells.

He was a Past President of the Geological Society of Trinidad and Tobago (GSTT 2002 – 2003), and has been a member since its’ inception. Mr. Smith is also the Country Representative for the International Mud Logging Company – GEOSERVICES SA with connections to Petrospec Int. – The leaders in “Pore Pressure Technology” – P Well Software
